A Discussion Meeting and Dua Mahfil was held in memory of Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukder.

A “Discussion Meeting” along with “Du’a Mahfil” was held for the deceased Professor and Former Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Late Dr. Rahim B. Talukder on August 31, 2022, at the Prof. M. Safiullah Auditorium of the institute.

The discussion started with one-minute silence as a mark of respect and with a recitation from the Holy Quran for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased.

Former Director of IBA, Professor Md. Shamsul Haque, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Professor Dr. A.K.M. Saiful Majid, along with other former professors of IBA, Professor Dr. Khair Jahan Sogra, Professor Neaz Ahmed, former student and alumni, and Professor Dr. Jawadur Rahim Zahid, were present as Speakers.

Professor Mohammad A. Momen, Director of IBA, presided over the discussion session. The discussion session was moderated by Professor Sheikh Morshed Jahan. Dua and Prayers were conducted by Mr. Mahmud, respected Imam of IBA.

During the session, all distinguished guests discussed Prof. Talukder’s ideals and working life, and speakers shared various memories of him. They memorized that easy-going, soft-spoken, and ever-smiling Dr. Talukdar popularly known as RBT to his students and one of the most respected individuals. He was a teacher of Managerial Economics and Finance. Students loved him for his scene of humor and his “marginal” analysis. He was calm, poised, and gracious. He treated everyone with respect. Decency followed him wherever he went. He touched all people’s hearts. He was a mentor, friend, philosopher, and guide. They solemnly expressed that the death of Professor Talukder was an irreparable loss for the IBA family. Undoubtedly, IBA has also lost a true friend and Bangladesh lost a great son of the soil who has served the nation as an academic for over five decades.

On behalf of the Officers of IBA Mr. Manzurul Haque paid deep respect to the memory of Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukder. He said that “IBA was Dr. Talukder’s favorite place. He always gave IBA the most important of all his works. He was a successful educator, and he had a very happy family life. He always worked in the service of society as well as for the people of this country. He always attended all occasions of IBA and was engaged in various social work.”

Professor Dr. Abdur Rab said that “Professor Talukder has taken the business education of Bangladesh much advance by leading from the front. He has played a leading role in the spread of higher education in Bangladesh. For this, the education sector of Bangladesh will be indebted to him. I think his dream will come true if the faculty members and the staffs all still have those things in their minds and move the institute forward in a much farther way. He was a true friend of IBA, his contribution to the development of IBA and students will be remembered by all with gratitude forever.”

The Director of IBA expressed deep grief over his death. He said that Dr. Talukder was a kind-hearted, far-sighted, and determined individual. He had a long and glorious contribution to the development of IBA and its students. His immense contribution to IBA will always be remembered. He further added, “We recall with profound respect and gratitude the significant contribution of Professor Talukdar made not only to the development of IBA and its students but also to the business schools through his leadership as vice chancellor and professor at different private universities. It is a great loss for the institute and the nation to lose such an eminent educationist.”

Among others, all faculty members, a large number of students, Alumni, Former students of IBA, and officials of IBA, were present at the discussion session. It is worth mentioning that Professor Dr. Rahim B. Talukder passed away on Tuesday, 17 May 2022, at a hospital in the capital. He was 80 years old at the time of his death.
