Short Bio

Dr. Melita is a Professor at IBA, University of Dhaka. She herself has completed her bachelors and masters from IBA itself and have joined the Institute in 2009 as lecturer. A commonwealth scholar, Dr. Melita has completed her PhD from the Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK in Accounting and Finance. Her PhD research was on “The Politics of CSR Reporting: A traditional Economy Perspective”. She also has a master’s in development studies from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She has published a number of articles in national and international journals. Dr. Mehjabeen is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Markets and Governance and the Journal of Business Administration. She is also serving as the member of technical committee of the BGMEA Innovation Centre. Before entering the academia, Dr. Melita has worked at the corporate sector for 5 years, serving at British American Tobacco, Bangladesh and Citibank, N.A.

1. Awarded Centennial Research Grant for one year (2021-2022), University of Dhaka to conduct a research om “Bridging Industry-Academia Gap through Collaboration”.
2. Awarded Research Grant from Danish Fellowship Centre, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark to work as a researcher on the 5yearResearch project “Circular Economy in Apparel Industry in Bangladesh” from (2022-2027)
3. Awarded Research Grant for 6 months from the Bureau of Economic Research, university of Dhaka to conduct a research on “Impact of Covid 19 on Working women in Bangladesh” as the Principal Investigator (2022-2023)
4. Commonwealth Scholarship in the UK, 2013.
