Professor Shakil Huda appointed Director (Acting), IBA, University of Dhaka

Professor Shakil Huda has Joined as the Director (Acting) of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. His appointment is effective from October 08, 2024.

Professor Shakil Huda started his career initially with a project of the World Bank at the Resident Mission of Bangladesh in 1992. Then he took up a mid-level position as the Deputy Secretary at the national bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). After some time he worked for a while in a reputed multinational company (American Express) before moving to Jahanginagar University (JU). There he singlehandedly formulated a curriculum of a 4-year Bachelor degree in Business Administration (BBA) for the first time in Bangladesh. He with his team also got the Department of Business Administration formally established first time ever in a public university (JU) of the country. Later, he joined the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in 1995 and became a Professor in 2009.

He was involved with numerous business ventures as a consultant or an advisor. He offered training programs in reputed local (Square, Orion, Bengal, Biman etc.) and multinational (Novartis, BOC etc,) companies. He acted as a specialist in a number of intervention programs of several international development agencies (Katalyst, GTZ, SwissContact, DANIDA, Asia Foundation, AMCHAM, Action Aid etc.).

He was also Advisor to Novotel and NovoAir. He is now involved with an AI based job placement platform. He takes active interest in Sharia based entrepreneurship.

Professor Shakil Huda graduated with a Master degree in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka in 1992. He secured the topmost merit position in his Area (Marketing) of Specialization. In 2002 he obtained another MSc degree with a major in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Science (ISQS) at Texas Tech University (TTU), USA.

Over the years, he wrote quite a number of articles with some international publications.

Faculty members, staffs, students and Alumni of IBA have expressed optimism for advancements in the economic and educational landscapes of Bangladesh under the leadership of Professor Huda.
